Medical equipment hospital opens in Baghdad’s al-Wafa area
Medical equipment company Al-Wafea, which provides medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics in Baghdad, has opened its first branch in al-Shifa, an al-Fijah district in Baghdad.
Al-Shafaa will provide a full range of equipment for healthcare and rehabilitation, Al Jazeera’s Alina Abbazak reports from Baghdad.
The hospital is located in the al-Najm district, where many hospitals are located.
Al Jazeera has not been able to confirm if the facility will be operational at the end of the year.
Al Shifaa was founded in 2007 by Abu al-Zahrani, a medical engineer who had previously worked at the Abu Hamad Hospital in Baghdad and the Abu Faraj hospital in the north of the city.
Al Wafea is the third company to open a branch in the city since December, and the first since October.
The Iraqi government announced in October that it was planning to close the Abu Hammam hospital, which was also based in the same area.
The Abu Hamam hospital had been a leading provider of treatment for Iraq’s chronically sick.
